Assets — Images

The Images section of the Assets panel lets you upload and manage image files that can be used as visual elements on your dashboards. Factory floor maps, equipment diagrams, company logos, and background photos are all stored here and are immediately available on every dashboard in the project.

Opening the Images view

With the Assets panel open, click the image icon — the fourth icon in the Assets panel toolbar. The panel switches to a grid view showing all uploaded images.

Uploading images

Click the upload button in the Images panel to open the file picker. Select one or more image files from your computer to upload them to the project.

Supported formats:

JPG / JPEG — suitable for photographs and detailed background images.

PNG — recommended for diagrams and images that require transparency.

SVG — scalable vector graphics that remain sharp at any zoom level. Ideal for schematic drawings and icons.

GIF — animated or static graphics for lightweight visual elements.

Uploaded images are stored as project assets on the DataTalk server. They persist with the project and are available across sessions and to all users who have access to the project.

Using images on dashboards

Once an image appears in the Images panel, drag it onto an open dashboard canvas to place it. The image is inserted as a static element that you can reposition and resize using the standard canvas handles.

Common uses include:

Factory floor layouts — place a top-down floor map as the dashboard background, then position live gauge and chart components over the equipment locations on the map.

Equipment diagrams — use a P&ID or schematic drawing as a reference layer behind live sensor readings.

Company logos — add a logo to a presentation-ready dashboard for display on monitors in a control room or meeting room.

Background photos — set the visual context for operator dashboards without requiring any additional configuration.
